[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he little girl stands behind me like a bump on a log, unmoving. She has an opinion on just about everything. Especially things that she’s just learned about, like frogs, strawberries, and the color taupe.

“What are you doing?” She asks.

“I’m taking a picture.” I say, holding my phone high in the air.

“Of yourself?”

“Yes.”

“Of your own hand holding a fishing pole?” She asks. “That’s stupid.”

“Hush now. It’s for Facebook. This is what people do.”

The little girl puts her hands on her hips, and tilts her freckly redhead.

“Oh brother.” She sighs. “Everybody wants their fifteen minutes.”
