[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t seems like only yesterday that Timmy and I walked to the Tom Thumb through the woods behind his house to buy candy and beer. They didn’t card us kids in those days. Far as we knew, there were no cards back then. On the way back home we’d fuss over who could fit more Tootsie Rolls in their mouth at once. He always won, and I always said it was because he had a big mouth. Sometimes down by the creek, I’d fling him on the tire swing as hard as my little shoulders were able, and he’d show me how to skin a squirrel using only a paperclip.
I sigh to myself, because now we’re all grown up, with cellphone bills and such.
